In my previous post I talked about having a proper business perspective of the church. Having a proper business perspective of the church means you view the church as an organization that has financial and human resources that need to be accounted for. A church may have to get its members to perform tasks in an unpaid status until the church can pay them.
I know, in general, that churches have a hard time getting people involved. Many churches make the mistake of allowing anyone willing to help perform tasks that require a certain aptitude and/or skillset. Everyone doesn’t have the aptitude and/or skillset to be an office manager, bookkeeper, or accountant. Allowing anyone to perform tasks that require a certain aptitude and/or skillset is irresponsible and negligent.
Churches don’t need an HR professional to make this decision for them. Church leaders need to make wise decisions when selecting someone to perform tasks that require a certain aptitude and/or skillset.
